THANK YOU @theotherartfair for 4 solid days of sharing my work at my booth to thousands of visitors over a long weekend in Dallas!! I met so many great people, had lots of rich conversations, connections made and @shabanakauserart that found forever homes through sales!!

📌 About me: Shabana Kauser creates contemporary realistic oil paintings and mixed media art that are influenced by her shared experiences as the daughter of Pakistani immigrants to the UK, and as an immigrant to the United States. Her paintings of South Asian women wearing traditional fabrics and jewelry, explore memories of cultural, social, and economic transition. The traditional ‘dupatta’ (scarf) is interwoven throughout many of her works.
Shabana was born and lived in the UK for over 25 years. She lived in Central London, where she achieved her degrees, a BSc in Business IT and a MSc in Information Management. She worked in the corporate world before her husband was presented with a work opportunity in the US. In 2008, Shabana moved from Central London UK, to the US, and settled in Fayetteville Arkansas. Through the frustrating immigration laws, and while being unable to legally work for 7 years, she discovered her love for creating. This journey opened up a new way to connect with people and share her story.
In 2017 she formally introduced her work and enjoyed her very first Exhibit. Shabana has now enjoyed successful Gallery and Museum exhibits throughout the US. Shabana attended the University of Arts London, St. Martin’s College in the UK, and also completed the Artist Inc program that is organized by the Mid-American Arts Alliance. In 2022 she became a US Citizen.
Shabana will have Original Oil paintings and mixed media art available at @theotherartfair in Dallas. If you are in the area, drop by her exhibition booth!

Dupatta #11, Original Oil painting, using a vibrant orange traditional scarf (known as a dupatta) in this portrait. I created 3 paintings simultaneously. This original painting will be available at @theotherartfair in Dallas, from May 11-14.

This trio of 💙 Original Mixed Media paintings SOLD!! All 3 paintings created by @shabanakauserart found a permanent home in Houston, Texas!!
Urdu lettering can be seen on these paintings. Urdu is the formal language spoken in Pakistan. Spoken Urdu is similar to Hindi, and written it has a Persian / Arabic influence.

Happy International Women’s Day!!
Today celebrates the social, economical, cultural and political achievements of women. Through my work, I have been fortunate to meet and be inspired by a list of women who have a powerful cause, are driven and follow their mission despite the odds ✊🏽

I’d like to highlight @chic.ngold to you all!! It was a pleasure to meet the founder, Munira Syeda, who is based in Dallas TX. Munira helps to promote and sell hair accessories and clothing, crafted by artisans and refugees located in Pakistan. I am pictured here with a @chic.ngold product….I love my new beautiful blue bandana, the detailed stitching up close is ❤️ This design was hand stitched by refugee women from Afghanistan, who are now living and working just outside of Karachi in Pakistan.

Please check out @chic.ngold , give them a follow, a like or better still purchase some hair accessories and support women in Pakistan, and refugees working hard to better themselves through running a small business. Thank you Munira, for sharing their work here in the US.

*Bhangra music is of Punjabi origin. The Punjab area is located in the Northern part of the Indian subcontinent. Today this area is in a part of India and Pakistan. Going back to the music....the style has its origins in the folk music of Punjab as well as western pop music. Bhangra historically existed only as a dance form in the native Punjab. The roots of modern bhangra music date back to the Sikh Punjabi community in Punjab during the 1960s.

There are Urdu letters in some of the ❤️ art. Urdu is the formal language of Pakistan, I learned to read and write this during childhood. So it was fun to include that into my work.
