Catching up with my blog after March 2020!
Since the pandemic hit it’s been an unpredictable, scary time for many. My heart goes out to you if you have lost a loved one throughout this tough time. While juggling creative, side work, family and health time, my blogging time was put on hold.
March 2020 started with my very first art show during Women’s History month in Downtown Rogers, Arkansas. Weeks of work went into organizing this exhibition. The evening of the art reception is when things drastically changed. We had guests turn up that evening, the only safety precautions at that time were to practice social distancing. After our reception, businesses (including galleries) began temporarily closing due to the pandemic. What many thought would only last for a few weeks, turned into something far worse. Our exhibit eventually came to a halt as the gallery temporarily closed. Like many creatives, I had lost every event that was booked for the year.

I decided to switch off for a few weeks and re-paint the inside of our home. It was a great way to stay productive and yet switch off from the world at the same time. I worked through most of our home, and my time helped me to temporarily zone out.

While participating in several virtual art events last year, I decided it was a time to create and plan ahead. I invested time in learning a new medium and creating more work as and when I could amongst the chaos.
Moving forward to March 2021, it’s good to know people have been vaccinated and venues re-opening for in person events. I am planning for several shows this year and look forward to sharing my mixed media art and new oil paintings.
